Appended1.6.6 - App Store

This is not your typical notes app!

In simpler times, if someone had a thought, they might jot it down in a notebook. If they had another thought, it would go right below the earlier one. No need for organizing, tagging, editing, or correcting old mistakes. If something became distracting, or if it was a TODO item that was done, it could just be crossed out.

This app is that: a note taking app reminiscent of pen and paper, where the only form of organization was the sequence the notes were written in. With Appended, if you have a thought, you append it to your only ongoing note. If some entry is no longer relevant, you can cross it out, or delete it, but there is no temptation -- because there's no ability -- to edit or organize.

Appended differs from a paper notebook in only two ways:

* Notes are (optionally) rendered in markdown. Without a distracting formatting UI, you can bring life to your notes by adding lists, tables, links, rich text, and images
* Notes are fully searchable, making it much easier to find something you wrote months ago buried among all your other great ideas

Other great features:

* Encrypted notes sync securely across all your devices (requires iCloud)
* Create notes using Siri by simply saying "Create a note using Appended"
* View or add notes straight from your Apple Watch
* Use the Shortcuts app to append notes, search them, and more
* Search super quickly and see either only results or view matching notes in context
* Strikethrough notes that are no longer important to you, or optionally hide them. Easily toggle whether they're included in search results
* Share individual notes or drag them into other apps
* Copy notes to your clipboard
* Configurable reading options like font and size
* Tap anywhere to show nothing but your notes
* Full undo/redo support

Features Appended does NOT have:

* Complicated organization that makes you wonder where you've put old notes
* Super flexible organization that makes you feel guilty when you just need to write something down so you don't forget it
* Todo lists that grow faster than you can manage, resulting in you never using it anymore
* Distracting formatting UIs, making you think about how your notes should look rather than noting them before you forget
* Editing existing notes

Version History Watch app now supports customizing the appearance (font size and design). 1.6.6 1d ago Version 1.6.5 brings undo and redo to Appended. Appended something by mistake? Struck out the wrong note, or deleted one you meant to keep? Take it back from the menu, by shaking your device, or with ⌘Z on a keyboard. Right after you append a note, the button offers to undo it too, and puts your text back where you typed it.

This version also includes:

* Removed duplicate shortcuts. (Did you know you can append, search, import, or export notes via the Shortcuts app?)
* Shortcuts no longer fail with "couldn't communicate with the app" when Appended isn't already running, so text you dictate into a shortcut isn't lost
* Tapping a tag in Zen Mode now leaves Zen Mode and searches for that tag, instead of waiting until you leave Zen Mode yourself
* Fixes some Markdown rendering bugs, including emphasis with the rounded font, and inline code

In case you missed it, version 1.6.4 introduced Zen Mode: tap anywhere to hide everything but your notes, and tap again to bring back the text field and buttons. 1.6.5 Oct 2 Version 1.6.4 introduces the long awaited "Zen Mode" -- read your notes in full screen, with all chrome hidden. Simply tap on your notes to enter zen mode, and tap again to leave it. It works on your Apple Watch too, clock and all. Special shout out to Travis for the encouragement and patience on this one -- this required a handful of under-the-hood improvements to make possible.

This version also includes:

* Sharing a markdown file with Appended correctly loads its content into the text field for editing/appending
* Drag notes into Appended from other apps, or out of Appended into other apps
* Tap your notes while drafting to dismiss the keyboard and get back to search
* Better image support -- tap an image to see it in full screen, or share the image
* UI tweaks to clean things up and optimize performance 1.6.4 Sep 19 This version of Appended adds support for dynamic text sizes and fonts, as well as a couple small bugfixes. 1.6.3 Sep 10 * Search moved out of the top navigation, and is now next to the text field
* In addition to adding notes via Siri ("Pen it with Appended" or "Jot this down in Appended"), you can now search notes by saying "Find a note in Appended", "Search Appended", or "Search Appended notes"

* Exclude words or phrases from search. Prefix any word or quoted phrase with a "-" to exclude matching notes
* Hitting return when searching will minimize the search bar, giving you more room to see search results
* Links, addresses, and phone numbers, are detected and tappable
* Minor performance improvements due to better caching

...and some small fixes:

* Only http/https links will open in-app. Other schemes, such as mailto://, will open apps based on your system preferences
* Search bar only allows one line of text 1.6.1 Feb 19 With this version, some core components have been rebuilt entirely. As a result, there are a few minor (but still exciting!) improvements, but mostly these changes make room for some new features I'm really excited about in an upcoming version. In this version:

* Performance improvements when syncing with iCloud
* Performance improvements when searching
* Improved context menus (when you tap and hold on a note) show the entire note, even if it's a big one
* Swiping right all the way will automatically copy the note contents
* Some animations were removed to make things snappier
* Some under-the-hood improvements to make way for a few exciting features soon to come
